Venus Dating attaches great importance to the data that may be entrusted to us, as it is an integral part of our system.
Your personal data is processed in a fully transparent manner in order to guarantee its protection and to inform you of its purpose.
We have deliberately chosen to use simple, publicly accessible language so that you can fully understand the various issues involved in the processing of your personal data.
Throughout this policy, we will refer to concrete examples directly related to the use of the Venus application.
We thank you for the trust you have placed in us by sharing your personal data for processing.
This document aims to ensure that you understand how we will process this information in order to meet your expectations regarding connections with other users located in Europe and around the world.
General Information
Venus, whose registered office is located at 3 Rue du Moulin Renard, Guyancourt (78280), is the controller of your personal data.
In order to operate our mobile dating application, we need to collect and process personal data about the application's users.
This document aims to ensure that everyone understands how we will process this personal data and is aware of the extent of the rights they hold with regard to such processing.
Purposes of Processing
We collect your personal data for the following purposes:
Managing and administering your user account
To allow you to access the application and interact with other users by completing your profile, and to subscribe to the various plans enabling you to initiate conversations with other users.
Meeting compatible people
To allow you to meet other people who match your profile. The personal data entered in your profile is analysed and compared with all other profiles in order to calculate a theoretical compatibility percentage.
Ensuring continuity of service across multiple devices
To ensure the availability of your login information, search preferences, conversations, your subscribed option if applicable, and other information relating to your user account activity across different devices.
Carrying out statistics
Your information, along with that of all other users, allows us to better understand you and to determine marketing actions (promotions, surveys, etc.) and to offer you various offers and benefits.
Analysing user behaviour
In order to modify or expand certain features based on users' browsing habits and the information entered in their profile.
This information allows us to adjust certain features and improve the service provided to users.
Complying with legal obligations
In order to respond to the requirements and requests of competent authorities and to enforce and apply our terms and conditions of use.
What are the legal bases for processing? The legal bases for the processing of personal data are the performance of the contract (T&Cs available at this address) and Venus's legitimate interest.
What types of data are collected?
Data required for account creation and administration
For the creation and administration of your account, we process the following personal data: your email address, password, gender, date of birth, phone number, and username (information such as email address, date of birth, and phone number are not displayed to other users).
Profile data visible to other users
To complete your profile, we reuse some of the data required to create your account (username, gender, etc.) as well as other data such as your postcode, city, country of residence, photos, body type, lifestyle, type of person sought, age range, interests, relationship sought, marital status, favourite sports, nationality, dietary habits, profession, languages spoken, and income bracket.
The following sensitive data may also appear in your profile: your racial or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, and religious beliefs and practices.
Third-party application data
We also collect certain data from third-party applications or services when you create your user account through social media accounts (Facebook, Google). This data includes your username, age, gender, date of birth, and profile picture.
Payment data
In the event of a subscription, we collect your payment card details in order to communicate them to our payment service providers.
Device data
As information is exchanged between the application and your device, we collect and receive from it a certain amount of information:
Your IP address, general characteristics and settings of the device used, any technical incidents, your unique identifier registered with partners such as Google and Apple, the type of connection used and its signal (mobile network, Wi-Fi), and the various identifiers associated with cookies.
If you authorise us to do so, we may access your GPS coordinates informing us of your geographic location on a continuous basis through your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or mobile network connection. We may also access your camera with your permission.
The application may also in some cases request access to your contacts and device storage, for example to allow you to add a profile photo from your image gallery.
Other data
We also collect other information such as the date and time of your various logins to the application (used for example to display your online or offline status) and the date, time, and number of your exchanges with other users.
How long is data retained?
All your personal data is retained for as long as you hold a user account with us.
Once you delete your account, your data is automatically removed from the active database and archived in a secure database for a maximum period of five years.
The archiving of your personal data after account deletion allows us to respond favourably to a request for access to your personal data, which may come from the user themselves or from a judicial authority when legally required.
This retention period may be extended as necessary in the event of an ongoing dispute requiring access to this data.
Who are the recipients of personal data?
The main sharing of your data is of course carried out through other users of the Venus application, with the aim of helping you develop relationships with other users.
We also share this information with other service providers directly related to the Venus application, such as social networks used as intermediaries for account creation, or other partners involved directly or indirectly in the operation of the application.
Sharing information with other users
Once the user completes their profile, they agree to voluntarily disclose all of this information to all users of the application.
Sharing information with service providers and subcontractors
We use external service providers to process, store, and secure your data on our server, as well as to process and secure your transactions (primarily Google and Apple).
These service providers ensure the availability of the application in order to provide you with the best possible experience in terms of fluidity, ergonomics, and ease of use.
All our partners and service providers involved directly or indirectly in our business must comply with strict obligations regarding confidentiality and security.
- As part of improving our services, we may also transmit statistical data to partner marketing companies, whose names we will communicate to you, to help us target our advertising activities with the aim of increasing the number of users or conducting loyalty campaigns.
Sharing information in the event of a sale, acquisition, or merger
We may transfer all your data in the event of involvement in a merger, sale, or acquisition of our company, or any other change in company ownership, to the acquiring company.
Sharing information with public authorities and competent courts
Your data may also be shared with public authorities and competent courts.
In the event of compliance with a court order, judicial or governmental investigation, subpoena, or any other request aimed at preventing or detecting illegal activity and acting within the framework of protecting individuals.
If our liability is engaged in legal proceedings, we may share data with competent authorities in order to assert and protect our rights, those of users, and those of our commercial partners.
Transfer of data outside the European Union
Some personal data is transferred to our partner service providers (Google, Apple, Facebook) outside the European Union, whose services are used to provide ours.
We have personal data processing agreements with each of these service providers to ensure they maintain a sufficient and appropriate level of data protection in their respective countries.
Your profile data may be viewed by users located outside the European Union. We have also ensured that these individuals reside in countries where the level of personal data protection is sufficient and appropriate.
What are your data protection rights?
You may access the data relating to you or request its deletion. You also have the right to object, the right to rectification, and the right to restriction of processing of your data (see cnil.fr for more information about your rights).
Certain requests, such as a request to delete the basic data required to create a user account — such as a phone number, email address, age, or username — may be incompatible with the functioning of the application and will result in the deletion of the account.
To exercise your rights or for any questions regarding the processing of your data under this framework, you may contact us at: contact@venus-rencontres.com
If you believe, after contacting us, that your data protection rights are not being respected or that the processing does not comply with data protection rules, you may submit a complaint to the relevant supervisory authority.
